As general elections nears end and the political dynamics become unpredictable, political strategist Prashant Kishor“s prediction today has added extra zeal. As a section of media displays Prime Minister Modi”s popularity to foresee the BJP”s re-election for another term, Kishor said that the Prime Minister has been “challenged by the people of the country, if not by the opposition parties.” The strategist also said that the power of the “Modi brand is declining” in comparison to what was seen in 2014 and 2019.
The election strategist, who has worked for several political parties including BJP, Congress, AAP, JD(U) etc., then asserted that the saffron party”s alliance will “never win their promise of 400 seats” in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. The Prime Minister has been reaffirming that he was sure about the NDA touching 400 seats out of the total 543 Lok Sabha seats in the 2024 general elections.
In an interview with RTV this week, the country”s known political strategist further stated that the opposition parties may be weak “but opposition to government is not weak.” Noting that in a country where more than 60 crore people don”t earn more than Rs 100 per day, Kishor said the opposition against the government can never be weakened.
Explaining his argument with numbers, Kishor said that no party gets 50 percentage votes in India. “If 100 people vote, only 40 support PM Modi, his ideology, his work including Hindutva, Ram Mandir, Article 370 – this collectively, only 40 people are happy and 60-62 are unhappy,” he stated.
Referring to Ram Mandir, Kishor said that the saffron party is not going to get incremental benefits from it.
However, Kishor anticipates a massive advantage for the BJP-led NDA. He went on to say that it was all the guesswork and no one knows who will win how many seats “But, I don”t think the NDA and BJP numbers will decline meaningfully,” he said.
Kishor further said that the BJP will lose the majority only when it loses at least 100 seats from the North and the Western part of India, adding that he does not believe it will happen. Though Kishor believe the saffron party will face a setback in the region, the number of 100 seats was too big for the BJP to lose, he claimed.
