
Nuh Assembly Results: Congress' Aftab Ahmed Leads
Congress MLA Aftab Ahmed, who was vying for another term from the Nuh constituency won by 46,963 lead securing 91,833 votes as per the Election Commission of India. Haryana promised a law against mob lynching by the cow vigilantes. As per the numbers shared by the Election Commission of India, the deputy leader of the opposition in the Haryana assembly was leading with more than 2,000 votes against Zakir Husain.
The 58-year-old leader promised a judicial probe into the communal violence that rocked the Nuh district in 2023, leading to the death of six people and the destruction of properties is pitted against the BJP’s Sanjay Singh who is currently representing Sohna constituency. Aftab Ahmed defeated the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) candidate Tahir Hussain by 46,963 votes who is the son of Zakir Hussain, a three-time MLA from the constituency and also BJP’s Sanjay Singh.
Nuh Assembly Constituency is located in the Mewat district of Haryana which is a significant semi-urban seat in the South Haryana region. It is one of the 90 Assembly constituencies in Haryana and falls under the Gurgaon Lok Sabha constituency. The main candidates in the Nuh constituency include BJP’s Sanjay Singh, Congress Party’s Aftab Ahmed, Indian National Lok Dal’s (INLD) Tahir Hussain, Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Rabia Kidwai and Jannayak Janta Party’s (JJP) Birender. The JJP is in an alliance with the Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) in the state while the INLD has tied up with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
In the 2019 Haryana Assembly Elections, Congress candidate Aftab Ahmed won the Nuh seat with a margin of 4,038 votes securing 52,311 votes. He defeated BJP candidate Zakir Hussain who received 48,273 votes. The JJP candidate Tayyab Hussain finished third with 17,745 votes and INLD candidate Nasir Husain came fourth with 3,583 votes.
In the 2014 elections, INLD candidate Zakir Hussain won the seat with 64,221 votes which captured 52.35% of the vote share. The Congress party candidate Aftab Ahmed came in second with 31,425 votes losing to Hussain by a margin of 32,796 votes. BJP candidate Sanjay finished third with 24,222 votes. The total number of votes polled in this constituency was 1, 22,224 in 2014.
