The Pahalgam assembly constituency is situated in the Anantnag district of Jammu Kashmir. Since 1977, he constituency has been under the clasp of either Jammu & Kashmir People’s Democratic Party (PDP), or Jammu & Kashmir National Congress (NC).
According to the Election Commission of India, the voter turn-out of Pahalgam for the assembly election was 71.2 percentage.
Altaf Ahmed Wani has been the MLA of Pahalgam since 2014. He started off his political career in 2008, when he contested in assembly election on National Congress ticket. He could not win the election. Within shot time span. Wani, who is also known as Altaf Kuloo climbed the ladders of the party, and earned respect from everyone.
