The Bharatiya Janata Party fielded Radha Mohan Singh for yet another time. The former agriculture minister is given ticket from Bihar”s East Champaran Lok Sabha constituency. Singh has served as the MP of the constituency for three consecutive terms. East Champaran is his hometown.
Radha Mohan Singh entered politics in 1967. He is currently serving the sixth term in the Lok Sabha. Before the 2008 delimitation, East Champaran has been part of Motihari seat. After the constituency was formed, Singh has been winning seat continuously. He won the seat for three consecutive times. Before that he served as the MP thrice on the Motihari seat. During the 2019 Lok Sabha election, Singh won against the Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RSLP) candidate Akash Prasad Singh over the margin of 3 lakh votes. In short, this is the tenth time Singh is contesting from the seat.
After the he was nominated as the candidate, a huge crowd welcomed him. Excited at the crowd, Singh said, the election is for him alone and there is “no challenge” for him at all, as it was the first time he is seeing such a public sentiment.
He said, “I am contesting elections for the tenth time. This has never happened nine times before. There was such enthusiasm among the people that it took me two hours to come here from Gandhi Complex. Seeing the public sentiments, it has become clear that this is an election for me, no one else.” Not a challenge”.
