The BJP`S Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore wins Jhotwara constituency by defeating the INC candidate Abishek Choudhary by margin of 50167 votes in Jhotwara constituency. Rathore gets total 147913 votes over the congress candidate Abishek choudhary who secured a total of 97746 votes. The independent candidate Ashu Singh Surpura stood third by securing 55159 votes.
The elected candidate, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore is an Olympic medalist in shooting and retired colonel in the Indian Army. He is also the Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha from Jaipur Rural seat since 2014. Beyond his political career, he won many international medals at various championships. Rathore served as a Cabinet minister for Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in 2017 and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in 2014.
The election to Rajasthan state assembly was held on 25th November, 2023 to elect 199 0f 200 members assembly. The election for remaining 1 seat have been adjoined.
Jhotwara, a legislative assembly constituency in Rajasthan, belongs to the Jaipur Rural Lok Sabha constituency, which is situated in the Central region of Rajasthan is a rural seat. This constituency holds 356,039 registered voters, comprising 186,731 male voters and 169,308 female voters.
In 2008, Jhotwara legislative assembly constituency had MLA from BJP candidate Rajpal sigh Shekhawat by defeating INC candidate Lal Chand Kataria and he was reelected in the following assembly election held in 2013, he defeated the INC candidate Dr. Rekha Kataria by 19602 votes and became the MLA.
Before 2018, Jhotwara constituency was governed by Barathiya Janata party (BJP). In 2013 and 2009 assembly elections the BJP candidate Rajpal Singh Shekhawat defeated the INC candidates and became the MLA.
In the following election held in 2018, in Jhotwera constituency, there were a total of 361442 electors. The INC candidate Lal Chand Kataria won in the constituency who was earlier defeated by BJP candidate in the previous election and became MLA by securing a total 127185 votes. The BJP candidate Rajpal Singh Shekhawat stood second with total 116438 votes and lost by 10747 votes.
Over all, according to the latest report of Rajasthan assembly election, out of 119 seats, BJP won 115 seats and INC secured 69 seats. Along with Rajasthan, the assembly elections were held in four other states including Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram. The results of these four states was announced today except for Mizoram. The results of Mizoram will be announced on December 4.
