Noted thinker and RSS idelogue S Gurumurthy remarked that Prime Minister Modi is a global leader on the Indian soil. In a recent interaction with NDTV“s Editor-in-Chief Sanjay Pugalia, the political thinker revealed that why it is important to elect Narendra Modi in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, a global leader on the Indian soil.
Gurmurthy observed that what is happening at the global level is a “transition of India”. The shift is because of India”s rise as well as Prime Minister Modi“s ability to transform India and himself, he says.
He adds that by transforming himself, Narendra Modi has transformed India. In order to convince the world who has seen PM Modi as a mini Hitler, he has put strenuous efforts to emerge as a leader, Gurumurthy argues.
Continuing further, Gurumurthy stated that two decision PM Modi took – indigenous production of vaccine, and stand on Ukraine war – greatly changed India”s position in the world.
When PM Modi said about producing vaccine, everybody laughed at it, but went on and produced two and through that “he saved us”, Gurumurthy claims. He opines the if we had not produced it we could not have received vaccine at all and no country could have produced vaccines which we needed.
Second, his decision on Ukraine, “decision to remain neutral which means supporting Russia” was not just a political action but it saved Indian economy as well. Gurmurthy argued that PM Modi knew Ukraine war would result increase in oil prices. He decided to buy oil from Russia in Rupee terms. “It not only brought down the very oil threat which could have damaged the global economy and Indian economy and smashed Indian economy out of existence after the Covid, we got “Laddu” in both hands,” he states.
“India has emerged as a player, as the only player who can probably avoid a cold war in future,” Gurumurthy obseres. Therefore, when you are electing a leader or government this time, you are not electing a leader for India but electing a global leader on the Indian soil, he concludes.
Gurumurthy is the editor of the Tamil political weekly “Tughlak” and the exclusive conversation with NDTV was in connection with Tamil Nadu politics in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
