
Shalimar Bagh Election Result: Rekha Gupta Of BJP Secures Victory
In the Shalimar Bagh constituency, Rekha Gupta, the BJP candidate, won the seat, defeating the incumbent minister and the three-time winner, Bandana Kumari of the AAP party, with a margin of 29,595 votes.
Rekha Gupta and Bandana Kumari had been contesting in this constituency for the past two election. The BJP candidate, after losing the 2020 and 2015 elections, won the seat by securing a total of 68,200 votes.
The AAP candidate, Bandana Kumari, who was serving as the MLA of the constituency, has been securing the victory since the 2013 election. But Bandana Kumari, the three-time consecutive winner, who aimed for the fourth time, lost this election as she secured 38,605 votes.
In the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, Bandana Kumari of AAP won in this seat, defeating Rekha Gupta of BJP by a margin of 3,440, which was 2.95% of the total votes cast for the seat. AAP had a vote share of 49.41% in 2020 in this seat.
In the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections, Bandana Kumari of AAP won in this seat, defeating Rekha Gupta of BJP by a margin of 10,978, which was 9.14% of the total votes cast for the seat. AAP had a vote share of 52.14% in this seat in 2015.
In the 2013 Delhi Assembly elections, Bandana Kumari of AAP won in this seat, defeating Ravinder Nath Bansal of BJP by a margin of 10,651, which was 9.92% of the total votes cast for the seat. AAP had a vote share of 44.01% in 2013 in this seat.
