Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded Prof. Sitaram Naik as its candidate in the Mahbubnagar constituency. Sitaram who has been working as an academician working at Kakatiya University, Warangal is included in the second list of the BJP candidate list.
Sitaram Naik won from the Mahbubabad Lok Sabha constituency defeating the Union minister P Balram Naik. The BJP candidate was upset with the BRS leadership as he was denied the Mahabubabad ticket in 2018 and 2024. In 2024, Sitaram decided to quit the party and join the saffron party.
In the 2014 general election, prof Azmeera Seetram Naik won the seat by securing 3,20,569 votes. He contested the election as the TRS candidate. Meanwhile, in 2019, the TRS opted to field Kavitha Malothu instead of Azmeera to contest the election in the Mahabubabad constituency.
Mahabubabad constituency is one among the 17 Lok Sabha constituencies in Telangana state in southern India. The constituency is reserved for the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes. The constituency came into existence in 2008, following the implementation of the delimitation of parliamentary constituencies based on the recommendation of the Delimitation Commission of India consulted in 2002.
