The activists have pointed out the mass killing continues, citing authorities’ confirmation of laws requiring sterilization and vaccination instead. The development comes amid rising frustration over rising dog bites, which account for at least 122,000 in 2024 alone.
The newly elected representatives have reportedly promised a dog-free village following the December 2025 gram panchayat elections addressing the public concerns over increased biting instances.
