Unstoppable Green Wave in Manjeri: Adv. M. Rahmathulla Crushes Competition with 57,000+ Margin

MALAPPURAM: In a spectacular display of electoral dominance that has set a new benchmark for the district, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) candidate Adv. M. Rahmathulla has secured a landslide victory in the Manjeri constituency.

Decimating his closest rival, independent candidate V.M. Musthafa, Rahmathulla finished the race with a colossal margin of 57,887 votes.

The result, declared after the completion of all 21 rounds of counting, confirms Manjeri’s status as one of the safest and most formidable fortresses for the United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala.

The 2026 contest in Manjeri quickly turned into a one-sided affair as Rahmathulla established a commanding lead from the very first round.

According to final data from the Election Commission, the IUML candidate polled a total of 1,13,622 votes, accounting for nearly 60% of the total vote share. In contrast, V.M. Musthafa managed to secure 55,735 votes, while BJP’s Padmasree Ajith finished a distant third with 13,423 votes.

The scale of this victory is particularly noteworthy as it nearly quadruples the winning margin seen in the previous 2021 assembly elections.
As the final round results were officially announced, the streets of Manjeri transformed into a vibrant sea of green, with thousands of IUML workers launching a massive victory celebration.

Political analysts suggest that Rahmathulla’s professional standing as an advocate and the party’s airtight organisational machinery in Malappuram played a decisive role in achieving this record-breaking mandate.
