Amritsar, May 28: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge today took a dig at the union Home Minister Amit Shah for saying that he (Kharge) will lose his job after June 4, saying, he (Shah) should worry about his own job after June 4 as the BJP was certain to lose the elections.
Addressing a press conference in support of the party candidate from Amritsar parliamentary constituency Gurjeet Singh Aujla here today, Kharge said, the NDA was not in a position to even reach the 200 mark, leave aside getting 400 plus seats, as they were badly losing. He cited the example of states like Tamil Nadu and Kerala where the BJP was non-existent. He said, while NDA was losing, INDIA was gaining across the country.
On Amit Shah’s claims that he (Kharge) will lose his job after June 4, he retorted, Shah should worry about himself as they were losing. Moreover, he added, he has been in the politics for as much time as almost Modi’s age and he had not joined the politics for any job but to serve people.
The Congress president reiterated the guarantees of his party including debt waiver for farmers, guaranteed MSP, Rs 8500 every month to the poor families, besides one year apprenticeship to fresh graduates with an assured income of Rs one lakh for that period.
He said, the demonetisation and wrong implementation of the GST had badly hit the medium and small scale industry. He said, the GST will be simplified and the industry will be provided every support for growth.
“Demonetisation and wrong GST has affected the MSMEs of Punjab. If we come to power, we will simplify this (GST) and make all possible efforts to ensure that MSMEs flourish,” he assured.
Kharge said, the issue of drug addiction in Punjab was of grave concern and the steps will be taken to address it.
“Today, the youth of Punjab is disappointed and frustrated because drug addiction has become the biggest challenge for the state”, he said, while observing, this was the reason why law and order was deteriorating in the state. He pointed out, people are leaving their places, farmers are selling their land and sending their children to foreign countries.
The Congress president said, the INDIA government will also immediately fill up 30 lakh vacancies pending in various government departments.
