70th National Award Winners To Be Announced Today
The entertainment industry is buzzing with excitement and intriguing updates. The 70th National Film Award, which will honour the best Indian film from 2022 will be announced today.
This prestigious award will recognize films released in 2022, considering those censored between 1 January and 31 December 2022.

Among the leading contenders for the Best Actor award are Malayalam superstar Mammootty, 12th fail actor Vikrant Massey and Kannada actor Rishab Shetty.
Mammootty is a strong contender for his roles in Nanpakal Nerathu Mazhykam and Rorschach. His dual role in Nanpakal Nerathu, directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery has received critical acclaim. His portrayal of Luke Antony in Rorschach has also been widely praised. Both these movies were produced by Mammootty’s own company, Mammootty company.
Meanwhile, Rishab Shetty is competing with his performance in Kantara. The movie was written and directed by him. It was released on 30 September 2022. Its success in Kerala and its screening at the United Nations office in Geneva have bolstered his candidacy. The awards are expected to be distributed in October.
Along with National awards, the 54th Kerala State Film Awards will also be announced on Friday at noon. Mammootty his role in Kannur Squad and Kathanar, and Prithviraj for his role in Aadujeevidham, are anticipated to be strong contenders for the Best Actor award at the state level.
For the 69th National Film Awards 2024, Allu Arjun won the best actor award for the Telugu film Pushpa: The Rise, and the best actor honour was shared by Alia and Kriti for Hindi films Gangubai Kathaiwadi and Mimi, respectively.

The 70th National Film Award ceremony was initially scheduled to be held on May 3, 2023. However, it got postponed to October 2024 due to the delays after the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will announce the National Film Awards 2024 winners list during the press conference.
