Meera, a 16-year-old daughter of Tamil actor and musician Vijay Antony, allegedly died by suicide at her Chennai residence, according to reports. Meera, a class 12 student, was found dead at her home in Teynampet and was taken to the hospital in Mylapure and declared dead by the doctors.

NDTV quoted a senior police officer and said Meera was rushed to the hospital Tuesday early morning. “Doctors declared her brought dead. It appears the child killed herself,” the police officer told NDTV.

The police said the investigation is currently underway and can”t provide further details at this time. Meera was one of the two daughters of Vijay Antony and Fathima.

Meera was battling stress.

“The news is shocking beyond imaginations,” said South Indian actor Sarathkumar in an X (formerly Twitter post).

“The news of the untimely and unfortunate demise of Meera, the daughter of Vijay Antony and Fatima is shocking beyond imaginations. No amount of consoling and condolences can replace the everlasting grief of Vijay Antony and Fatima. Vijay I hope the almighty gives strength to your family to bear this unfathomable loss. May her soul rest in peace #RIPMeera,” the veteran actor wrote.

“Woke up to this shocking news! Deepest condolences to Vijay Antony Saar and family. RIP Meera,” director Venkat Prabhu said reacting to the news.
