Alba Flores, the Spanish actress called for ceasefire in Gaza. During the Goya Awards ceremony held at Spanish city of Valladolid, the Money Heist fame wore a watermelon shaped badge on her dress, accentuating her solidarity for Palestine. The badge read, “Stop Arm Trade, Stop Fire Now, Gaza”.

While talking to media on the red carpet, she made her stance clear. She said, “I did not know if I would have the opportunity to speak. So I want to bring a reminder. For me, these are dark times because nearly 29,000 people have already been killed Gaza”. She said it was hard for her to celebrate anything without remembering what is happening in Palestine, which is why she at least wear the pin. She said even it is just a small thing, she wanted to acknowledge it.

The Nairobi of Money Heist called for the Spanish government to do what is should do to stop the war. She concluded by saying that, “I hope there are more people who are really making an effort to say what is really happening. I hope this genocide will end. I hope we will have a free Palestine soon”. She left the stage after presenting the Best Original Song, with a message of “Goodnight and peace for Palestine”. Several other stars who attended the ceremony also called for ceasefire in Gaza.

Estíbaliz Urresola Solaguren, who took home the Best New Director for her film 20,000 Species of Bees, also took up the opportunity to urge for a ceasefire in Gaza. She said, “I take this opportunity to mention what is happening in Gaza. It is genocide, and we must ask our governments to stop it”.

In contrast to deafening silence on Gaza from Hollywood, several A listers from Spanish film industry grabbed their opportunity to call for Gaza ceasefire.
