Prime Video announced on Tuesday that Bollywood A-lister Alia Bhatt has boarded Richie Mehta”s upcoming Amazon original wildlife crime drama series Poacher as an executive producer.

Created by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Richie Mehta, known for the acclaimed series Delhi Crime, Poacher boasts of a diverse and stellar cast including Nimisha Sajayan, Roshan Mathew, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya in pivotal roles.

Poacher marks Bhatt”s second stint as a producer through her production house called Eternal Sunshine Productions. She debuted as a producer with her 2022 Netflix film Darlings alongside Shah Rukh Khan”s Red Chillies Entertainment. Notably, the actress also raises awareness about causes such as ecological sustainability and animal welfare through her platform Coexist.

The series is executive produced by Get Out producer QC Entertainment”s Edward H. Hamm Jr., Raymond Mansfield and Sean McKittrick, in association with Suitable Productions. Alan McAlex, known for A Suitable Boy, also serves as producer for Suitable Pictures.

“The impact of Poacher was deeply personal, and Richie”s portrayal of the urgent issue of wildlife crime resonated strongly with me and the team. The storytelling genuinely moved me, especially knowing it”s based on true events, that sheds light on brutal crimes occurring in our forests. I am confident that Poacher will serve as an eye-opener, delivering a powerful message to be more compassionate and considerate towards all living beings. It”s a call to embrace coexistence and I am genuinely thrilled to be collaborating with Richie, QC and Prime Video and to contribute to this narrative,” Bhatt stated.

Hamm Jr., Mansfield and McKittrick from QC appreciated the actor on joining them. They said, “Her involvement in this series helps raise awareness for the important issues addressed in the show. The most important of which is, we are all one interconnected humanity and planet. It”s crucial that we treat it with respect and consideration it deserves.”

The series is an investigative crime drama based on the largest ivory poaching ring in Indian history. Poacher, a first-of-its-kind project, brings the world of ecological conservation and entertainment to highlight the global issue of illegal poaching.

Poacher is set to premiere worldwide exclusively on Prime Video on February 23. It will be released in Hindi, Malayalam, and English.
