ANR National Awards 2024: Actor Chiranjeevi Honoured By Amitabh Bachchan

Actor Chiranjeevi, the Mega Star of the Tollywood who has been contributing to the development of Indian cinema for nearly four decades was honoured with the ANR award by the Bollywood’s Big B Amitabh Bachchan.

Tollywood star Chiranjeevi was honoured with the prestigious Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR) award in Hyderabad on Monday. Celebrating the 100th birth anniversary of the veteran, the event was made even more special with the presence of Amitabh Bachchan gracing the occasion.

Actor Chiranjeevi, the Mega Star of Tollywood who has been contributing to the development of Indian cinema for nearly four decades, was honoured with the ANR award by Bollywood’s Big B himself.

During the heartfelt on-stage moment, the Amitabh Bachchan delivered an emotional speech, remembering the late Telugu actor-producer Akkineni Nageswara Rao and his contributions to Telugu cinema. Expressing his gratitude towards the Telugu film industry, he thanked the legendary actor for bringing to life the joy of entertainment and culture.

He also lauded the Akkeni family for carrying the legacy of the legendary veteran while remembering a poem of his father called Vaishatnama, which read, “Mere bete hone se mere utaradhikari nahi honge, jo mere itaradhikari honge wo mere bete honge (You can’t become my inheritor just because you are my son; my inheritors would be my true sons).”

He added that Nagarjuna and his family are true sons and inheritors of this great personality called Akkineni Nageswara Rao.

Actor Chiranjeevi expressed his gratitude through a tweet, which read, “Blessed and Elated to receive the prestigious ‘ANR National Award’ named after the Doyen Akkineni Nageswara Rao garu, in his centenary year, through the hands of my Forever Guru @SrBachchan Amit Ji.  Grateful to every member of the Akkineni Family, Members of Akkineni International Foundation ,especially Shri. T Subbaramireddy garu, and my dearest brother and friend @iamnagarjuna!  Forever indebted to each and everyone who contributed to my cinematic journey and each of my milestones.”

 

Hosted by Nagarjuna, the ANR National Award event was attended by several notable figures from the Telugu film industry. Actors including Nani, Brahmanandam, Ram Charan, Prakash Raj, Ramya Krishnan, and many more joined to celebrate ANR’s 100th birth anniversary. Naga Chaitanya and his fiancee Sobhita Dhulipala were also present at the event.

The ANR National Awards were last presented to Sridevi and Rekha, who were honoured during a ceremony held in November 2019. Before that, Amitabh Bachchan, Lata Mangeshkar, SS Rajamouli, Hema Malini, Shyam Benegal, Sridevi B Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Anjali Devi, Vyjayanthimala Bali, and K. Balachander also received the award. Late Bollywood actor-filmmaker Dev Anand was the first person to be honoured with the ANR National Award.
