Chiranjeevi Takes A Stroll Back To 50 Years; His First Recognition As An Actor

Telugu “Megastar” Chiranjeevi recalls his college days with his latest post. Taking to his Instagram, the actor-politician shared a throwback picture of himself when he was first recognized as an actor.

The picture was 50 years old. It was taken in 1974, while he was studying in second year at YNM College, Narsapur. In the drama named ‘Rangasthalam’, Chiranjeevi won the Best Actor title.

As he completes 50 years since he started acting, the ‘Megastar’ said it was indeed “Happiness beyond measure”. The actor debuted in films in 1978. He was recognised for his supporting, anti-hero, and antagonist roes. He later transitioned into one of the finest actors of Indian film industry.

He is currently working on a film called Vishwambhara, which is expected to hit silver screen on Sankranti. The film is helmed by Vashishtha.

 

Chiranjeevi holds the record for the most “Industry Hits” in Telugu cinema, with eight films emerging as the top-grossers of their time—a feat unmatched by any actor in the industry’s 100-year history.

The was awarded Padma Bhushan (third highest civilian award of India) in 2006, and Padma Vibhushan (second highest civilian award) in 2024.  He is also celebrated as one of the finest dancers in Indian cinema. Earlier this year, Chiranjeevi was awarded with Guinness World Record as the most prolific actor-dancer in the Indian film industry.
