'Will Not Tolerate': Actors React To Minister's Remarks On Samantha-Naga Divorce

In the wake of Telangana minister K. Surekha’s comments over the divorce of former celebrity couple Samantha and Naga Chaitanya, several stars from the industry called out the minister for targeting celebrities to gain traction. The hashtag #FilmIndustryWillNotTolerate has been trending on social platform X.

The Devara star Jr NTR pointed out the “baseless statements being thrown out especially over the film industry and and the action of dragging personal lives into politics.” Expressing solidarity with Samantha and Naga, Jr NTR said, “We will not sit quietly while others make baseless allegations against us. We should rise above this and maintain respect for each other’s boundaries. Let’s ensure our society does not normalize such reckless behavior in democratic India.”

Veteran actor Chiranjeevi expressed his disappointment and highlighted how celebrities became soft targets for attention and instant reach. He expressed his support and said, “We as Film Industry stand united in opposing such vicious verbal assaults on our members.” He also added, “No one should stoop to this level for scoring political points by dragging unconnected people and more so women into their political slug fest and make distasteful fictional allegations.”

Pushpa star, Allu Arjun also released a statement condemning the Congress member’s remarks. Calling them “deeply respectful,” he said that the minister’s behaviour “goes against the values of (our) Telugu culture.” The actor urged the involved parties to act responsibly and respect individual privacy.

Calling the politician comments as “disgusting,” actor Nani made a point that its not only about actors or cinema or about any political party and said “This is not abt any political party. It is not okay for someone in such a respectable position to talk such utter baseless rubbish infront of media and think that it is okay. We all should condemn such practice which will reflect poorly on our society.”

Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu, the Akkineni family and Nagarjuna’s wife Amala  also called out the Congress minister and requested Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to restrain the Telangana minister.

Since the backlash, K. Surekha retracted her statements and issued an apology to both Samantha and Naga stating that her intention was not to target the former couple.
