Archana Puran Singh Opens Up About Miscarriage, Says She Felt “Abandoned” By Husband

Actor and television personality Archana Puran Singh has shared an emotional account of her miscarriage, the fear of never becoming a mother, and feeling emotionally alone during her pregnancy.

Speaking in the latest episode of Pyaar Dosti Hai, a video series where Archana and her husband Parmeet Sethi reflect on their marriage, the couple spoke about loss, misunderstandings, and personal growth.

Archana revealed that in the first few years of their marriage, she conceived but could not carry the pregnancy to term.

“I was working on a film when I had a miscarriage. I really wanted to have children, and losing the pregnancy affected me deeply,” she said.

The experience left her shaken and fearful. At 34, Archana said she genuinely believed she might never become a mother.

Parmeet shared that seeing Archana’s pain after the miscarriage changed his perspective on having children. He said he felt their relationship was complete and that they didn’t need anyone else.

Archana, however, recalled telling him that a child would not be an outsider but a part of them. She believes Parmeet was too young at the time to fully understand her emotional need for motherhood.

Archana’s first successful pregnancy came during a period of deep personal loss. While she was abroad for work, she received news of her father’s death. By the time she returned to India, his last rites had already been performed.

Amid the grief, she noticed unusual food cravings, realising that she was pregnant.

Looking back, both Archana and Parmeet admitted that he failed to support her emotionally during that time. Parmeet openly said he was unaware and self-absorbed.

“There was a time when she needed complete bed rest, and I told her I was going to play football,” Parmeet said.

Archana recalled feeling abandoned. “I was scared, sick, trying to protect my pregnancy after a miscarriage — and he left to play football,” she said.

Parmeet called himself “foolish”, saying he never intended to hurt Archana but lacked maturity and awareness at the time.

Archana said the experience shaped how she now looks at relationships. “I want my sons to understand that during those nine months, a woman needs complete support. I don’t want my daughters-in-law to feel what I felt,” she said.

Parmeet also shared a deeply personal belief, saying he feels their son Aaryaman is the reincarnation of Archana’s late father, noting similarities in humour and nature.
