Atharvaa, Fahadh Faasil Starrer 'Idhayam Murali' Hits Theatres Today

Atharvaa’s much-awaited romantic drama Idhayam Murali has finally arrived in theatres today (July 10), marking the directorial debut of producer-turned-filmmaker Aakash Baskaran.

The Tamil coming-of-age romance also features a special cameo by Fahadh Faasil, making it one of the notable releases of the week.

Produced under the Dawn Pictures banner, the film stars Atharvaa in the titular role alongside Kayadu Lohar and Preity Mukhundhan.

The supporting cast includes Natty Subramaniam, Ramki, Thaman S, Niharika NM, Rakshan, Dravid Selvam, Sudhakar, Pragya Nagra, Jonita Gandhi, Anju Kurian, Chinni Jayanth, and others.

Written and directed by Aakash Baskaran, the film is co-written by Ashwin Ravichandran. Music is composed by Thaman S, who also returns to acting after more than two decades with a key role in the film.

The cinematography is handled by Manoj Paramahamsa and C.H. Sai, while Pradeep E. Ragav has edited the film.

Idhayam Murali was officially announced in February 2025, with principal photography beginning earlier the same year. The film pays tribute to Atharvaa’s father, actor Murali, by borrowing its title from his iconic 1991 film Idhayam.

Ahead of its release, the soundtrack received a positive response, with songs including Idhayaa, Thangame Thangame, Vaan Vaan, Vaama Vaama, and Kattazhagi becoming popular among music lovers.

The film is distributed by Red Giant Movies in Tamil Nadu, while Netflix has secured its post-theatrical streaming rights. Idhayam Murali now opens in cinemas worldwide.
