Singer Chinmayi Sripaada, who has always been vocal about addressing issues in the cinema industry, especially the Tamil film industry, has gained traction with her latest social media post. Chinmayi called out the makers of the biographical film Amaran and the 2018 blockbuster film Maari 2 for the lack of female representation in the success posters.

Chinmayi’s recent X post reads, “One of the most talented and beloved female artists in the South will still not find space in a success poster, shoulder to shoulder with a man. Rowdy Baby was what it was also because of the trippy vocals of Dhee. Anyway.”

Chinmayi on Wednesday night posted a blockbuster announcement poster of Amaran, which features Sivakarthikeyan as Indian Army veteran Major Mukund Varadarajan. The poster hailed the film as a “megablockbuster,” claiming that it earned 300 crore worldwide in just 19 days.

She also added a photo of the ‘Rowdy Baby 1 Billion View’ on the YouTube poster, which features Dhanush in his all-black look from the song, playing an electric guitar. She pointed out the absence of a female lead in both these achievement posters of the film.

Notably, both films have Sai Pallavi as the female lead. As this tweet arose to be a point of discussion, the internet was divided with various opinions of the users. While some X users endorsed the allegation, many objected to it. Moreover, the poster that was shared by the singer was not the official poster from the makers of Amaran.

Some users have posted other blockbuster announcement posters of the film, which features both Sai Pallavi and Sivakarthikeyan. “Fact check before you embarrass yourself (smile emoji),” wrote the user, along with sharing the official poster. Chinmayi responded, “I first saw that poster in the official accounts of the team. That image is here on Twitter and it was widely circulated – MANY spoke about how Sai Pallavi is absent as well. This should have been an update much later. Doesn’t make a difference to the talent of the calibre of Sai Pallavi anyway.”

This user has smashed the singer through highlighting various factors that celebrate the female lead of the film.

Amaran has been receiving great reception from the audience and earning around Rs 2 crore net at the domestic box office during the weekdays. The film collected Rs 300 crore globally and became Sivakarthikeyan’s highest-grossing film in his career.
