"Cyber World Is Cruel": Shalin Zoya On Viral Video With Idavela Babu

While several claim to voice out for bringing justice to the victims, some also sugar coat the words to balloon the situation and bully. Since the revelation of Hema Committee report, the Malayalam film industry is under grave scrutiny. After the report came out, a few male actors in the industry appears to be in deep trouble with multiple counts of sexual allegations.

One among them is Idavela Babu, actor and former General Secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). He has been accused of sexual harassment by a couple of actresses. While this is on the table, some social media users try to stir up more to it.

Shalin Zoya’s Instagram story

Taking an old Tik-Tok video where, actress Shalin Zoya was lip-syncing in a ‘Babuvetta’ song from the Kodathi Sameekshan Balan Pillai, social media users subject the star to trolls and abuse. This prompted the Nagendran’s Honeymoons’ star to call out the “nameless bullies”, who put her at the receiving end of the cyber abuse.

In her Instagram story, Zoya said, “What should I speak up about? It was a Tik Tok video took years ago in between a movie shoot. And this song was trending that time and clearly thought it will be funny to tag him along since him having the same name. To make it viral in this exact time to slutshame me is another level of cyber abuse. What can i do here? You tell me. If I come with clarification for this again there will be trolling over internet. Cyber world is cruel. The nameless bullies are real villains here. I hate everyone of them”.

At the same time, Idavela Babu filed police complaints against the actresses who charges sexual assault cases against him. He filed complaints by saying that they are false charges.
