Sean Diddy Combs has filed a $100 million defamation lawsuit against NBC Universal, Peacock TV, and Ample Entertainment, the makers of the documentary Diddy: The Making Of A Bad Boy, for publishing defamatory statements against the music mogul.

The rapper, currently in the New York jail awaiting a federal criminal trial, filed a lawsuit in the New York State Court on Wednesday, February 12. The lawsuit alleges that the documentary featured untrue and defamatory statements about the rapper.

The lawsuit claims that the entire premise of the documentary assumes that Diddy has committed numerous heinous crimes, including serial murders, rape of minors, and sex trafficking of minors. It also accused the makers of the documentary of maliciously and baselessly jumping to the conclusion that Combs is a “monster.”

It further argued that the documentary includes numerous false and defamatory statements, which the makers knew were false or published with reckless disregard as to whether they were false or not.

Erica Wolff, the attorney of Diddy, also issued a statement about the new lawsuit saying that the media companies (NBCUniversal and Ample Entertainment) made a conscious decision to line their own pockets at the expense of truth, decency, and basic standards of professional journalism.

The attorney also highlighted that in the documentary, the makers had accused Combs of horrible crimes, including serial murder and sexual assault of minors, without any evidence to support the claims.

It also noted that Mark, the executive producer of the documentary, had acknowledged that the documentary was a rush job because of competing documentaries on the same subject, saying, “There’s no time, and this was an extremely fast turnaround.” Citing all these claims, Combs is seeking $100 million in damages for the “severe reputational and economic harm” caused by what he claims are false and defamatory statements.

The documentary Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy premiered on Peacock on January 14 and looks into multiple claims against the mogul, most prominently his alleged involvement in the death of his former girlfriend, Kimberly Porter, in addition to Biggie, Andre Harrell, Heavy D, and the attempted murder of Al B. Sure.
