Marvel Studios has officially dropped the first trailer for Fantastic Four: The First Steps, and it’s nothing short of spectacular. The film, set to hit theatres on July 25, 2025, reintroduces the beloved Fantastic Four with a fresh take, a stellar cast, and an ominous warning from beyond the stars.

The trailer opens on a hopeful note, showing Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal) and Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby) not just as superheroes but as a couple preparing to welcome a child, grounding the story in personal stakes.

Rounding out the iconic team are Joseph Quinn as the fiery Johnny Storm and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the indestructible Ben Grimm.

But peace doesn’t last long. The tone shifts dramatically when the mysterious Silver Surfer appears, delivering a chilling message: “Your planet is now marked for death.” In a haunting visual, a towering silhouette presumably Galactus, looms over New York City, hinting at the massive threat Earth is about to face.

Directed by Matt Shakman (WandaVision), the film brings together a powerhouse supporting cast including Ralph Ineson, Julia Garner, Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, Natasha Lyonne, and Sarah Niles. Fantastic Four: The First Steps is shaping up to be a major milestone in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In April 2019, Marvel Comics announced Invisible Woman, a five-issue miniseries written by Mark Waid with artwork by Mattia De Lulis. This marked Sue Storm’s first solo comic title. All five issues featured cover art by Adam Hughes.

In the debut issue of Fantastic Four, the team discusses Reed Richards’ ambitious rocket launch to the stars.

Interestingly, Stan Lee’s original synopsis had them aiming for Mars. However, he later changed it, writing, “With how quickly the Communists are advancing in space, maybe we should make it a flight to the stars instead of just Mars. By the time this hits the stands, the Russians might’ve already made it to Mars.”

The Fantastic Four broke away from traditional superhero tropes of the time. Unlike most heroes, they didn’t hide their identities, and they didn’t even wear costumes until issue 3.

Instead, they lived in the public eye, gaining fame for their scientific breakthroughs and heroic actions. Despite frequent internal clashes and arguments, they consistently come together as a united and powerful team in times of crisis.
