From Engineers To Runaways: OTT’s Top Hustlers Take Over The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 3 This Saturday On Netflix
The sofa’s crowded, the stories are mad, and the laughs? Absolutely relentless. This Saturday, The Great Indian Kapil Show returns with a cracker of an episode featuring some of India’s biggest OTT stars: Jaideep Ahlawat, Vijay Varma, Jitendra Kumar, and Pratik Gandhi. And let’s just say — their stories are every bit as gripping as the characters they’ve played on screen.
We’ve all heard the word ‘struggle’ tossed around in the industry, but hearing these four speak about their journeys — from the lives they lived before the fame, to the sheer determination that got them here — makes it more real than ever. This particular episode of TGIKS is as inspiring as it is hilarious.
Take Jitendra Kumar, for instance — the beloved Jeetu Bhaiya from Kota Factory. Turns out, he wasn’t just playing a coaching centre genius; he was one, having cleared IIT himself. When Kapil finds out he ditched engineering for acting, his reaction was priceless. Pratik Gandhi quips in perfectly: “Engineering ke baad aap ko sach mein pata chalta hai ki aapko life mein kya karna hai.” Viewers at home will almost certainly feel seen.
In contrast, both Vijay Varma and Jaideep Ahlawat knew right from the start that they were destined to be actors. Vijay shared a mad tale: “Maine ek dost ko bola mera selection ho gaya, mere paas paise nahin hai zyada, usne paise dediye fees ke. Maine kaha ab permission toh nahin milegi ghar se, bhaagte hai, toh main ghar se bhaag gaya!” These two have been batchmates at FTII and dreamt of their big-screen moment – and watching this episode really does feel like that iconic Om Shanti Om line playing out: “Kehte hain agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaho…” Well, the universe certainly listened.
Just when you think things can’t get wackier, Sunil Grover – in his avatar as Diamond Raja – crashes in with his now-iconic audition anthem. From dance lessons to mock Oscar poses (“strike left, strike right, and strike open-to-options”), his satire on Bollywood fame is as ridiculous as it is brilliant. Bollywood item numbers might have some serious competiton here!
And then there’s Jaideep Ahlawat, showing off more than just acting chops. On stage with the always-fierce airport security divas, Sona and Mona, he busts out moves so sharp they should come with a warning. Qatal really is the word.
Oh, and the twist? Korean superstar Jackson Wang pops by, making this episode not just East-meets-West, but K-pop meets Ka-Pil. Yes, it’s just as mad as it sounds.
Between confessions, dance-offs, engineering regrets, and Kapil’s signature roasts, this episode is an absolute riot. Streaming Saturday, 12th July – only on Netflix.
