Tamil actor Vijay Antony shares his first statement after the demise of his beloved 16-year-old daughter Meera on Thursday. Meera allegedly died by suicide. She was found dead at her Chennai home on Tuesday. The 16-year-old was suffering from mental stress for the past few months.

A day after his daughter’s cremation, the actor penned an emotional post in his social media X. His statement is loosely translated as, “My dear people, my daughter Meera is a loving and brave girl. She is now in a better and peaceful place where caste, creed, money, jealousy, pain, poverty and animosity are better than this world. She is still talking to me. I died with her. I have now started spending time for her. I will now do good things on her behalf and she will kickstart them.”

Meera was the elder daughter of Vijay Antony and Fatima, and she was born in 2007. She was studying at a private school in Chennai in Class 12. Meera aspired to have a medical career.

Meera was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan in the room on September 19 at 3 am. Though she was taken to the private hospital in Chennai, the doctors declared her dead. She passed away before reaching the hospital.

The autopsy report confirmed it as suicide. Her mortal remains were broght back to Vijay Antony’s residence in Alwarpet, Chennai.

Many including cinema stars, family members, friends and media gathered in the private premises even before her mortal remains reached the residence to pay homage. Her news of death melted the hearts of many.

Police had found a suicide note at her residence the letter emotionally started with the quote, “Love you all, miss you all”. Further details of the letter were not shared by the police, says Times of India.

Her mother Fatima broke down in tears at the funeral as she bid farewell to her daughter, as per local media house Thanthi TV. She reportedly said, “I carried you in the womb… You could have said a word to me.”

Actor Jayam Ravi expressed his condolence on his post on X, he said: “It’s heartbreaking to hear about the loss of your daughter @vijayantony brother. To all the children out there, please know that you are cherished, valued, and never alone. We are living only for your happiness and love. Life is full of ups and downs, and you have the power to overcome the challenges… Whatever, share with parents, we are there to face it for you. RIP Meera.”
