Karnataka: 24-Year-Old Ballari Woman Dies By Suicide After Persistent Harassment Over Dowry (Photo on X@HateDetectors)
Ballari, Karnataka: A 24-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide in Kampli town in Karnataka’s Ballari district allegedly after continuous mental harassment by her husband and mother-in-law. The deceased, identified as Jir Aishwarya, married Pradeep Kumar after falling in love with him.
However, from the first day of their marriage, Aishwarya was allegedly subjected to persistent mental harassment by her mother-in-law, while her husband remained a mute spectator failing to support his wife. Distressed by the escalating harassment, Aishwarya left her husband’s home and subsequently took the extreme step, the victim.

The police have recovered a death note written by the victim prior to her death, which explicitly names her husband and mother-in-law as the direct causes of her taking the drastic step. The death note written by Aishwarya before committing suicide notes “I cannot leave my husband. I cannot stay in my hometown forever.”
The police personnel from the Kampli police station visited the spot. A case has been registered based on the recovered death note, and the deceased’s husband, Pradeep Kumar, and his mother have been taken into custody. Police said that they are investigating the matter.
