Meerut, Uttar Pradesh: A continuation of the celebrities’ kidnapping events, actor Mushtaq Mohammed Khan was abducted after being called for an award show by a Uttar Pradesh gang recently. The gang made an advance payment, provided a flight ticket from Mumbai to Meerut on November 20, and was kidnapped on his way from the airport. The actor was held captive at an anonymous site in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor after being taken into a car from the airport by the kidnappers on the pretext of the organizers. The kidnappers later extorted the actor’s money by gaining access to his mobile phone.
The incident comes days after news of kidnapping and extortion of money from comedian Sunil Pal grabbed headlines. Sunil Pal had revealed he was abducted while on his way to Uttarakhand for a show, claiming that the kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs 20 lakh but could secure his release from captivity by paying Rs 8 lakh. The comedian had said he was dropped by the roadside in Meerut by the gang, bearing a similarity to the latest kidnapping of Mushtaq.

The welcome and Stree 2 actor Mushtaq’s kidnapping has sent cautions to the celebrities’ on the fresh maneuver of the scammers. Explaining the harrowing experience Mushtaq faced, his business partner Shivam alleged that the gang tortured the Mushtaq for nearly 12 hours and demanded a crore as ransom. The kidnappers finally managed to secure Rs 2 lakh from the actor’s and his son’s accounts.
While being in captivity, he heard Azaan from a nearby masjid in the morning and then managed to escape, knowing that locals would be in close proximity. With the help from police and locals, the actor returned home, according to Shivam. He pointed out that the actor’s family has been terrified by the incident. However, Shivam has registered an FIR against the kidnappers by going to Bijnor and submitted evidence, including flight tickets, bank accounts, and CCTV footage from near the airport. He also said that the actor recognises the neighborhood, even the house where he was kept, expressing his hope for the police to nab the kidnappers soon.

Meerut police have reportedly arrested two people in connection with the kidnapping and extortion of Sunil Pal. The second similar incident has raised alarm about the safety of actors and celebrities.
