Karan Johar Announces Next Project With Dharma’s “24th Debutant Director”

Karan Johar announced the “proudest” film of him production house Dharma Production. Taking to his Instagram , Karan said while many of the films went out from his production house went right and wrong, the actual intent remained intact – to put out stories and films we believed in”.

He wrote, “When I began producing films (once I stepped into Dharma as an active part of the company), in 2003 with Kal Ho Naa Ho – the idea was to empower filmmakers and storytellers…to pay it forward. We got it right…..we got it wrong – but the intent was always to put out stories and films we believed in. The motive was only either entertain, seek acclaim or to simply have fun at the movies!”.

The film maker proudly introduced 24 the debutant filmmaker Dharma has introduced to Indian cinema.

Keeping his statement light, he also gave it to trollers who often criticise him of promoting nepotism, and giving chance only to the celebrity kids. He said 90 percentage of the debutants were outsiders. “(Trivia for trollers: 90% of them are ‘outsiders’)”, he wrote.

While saying that he rarely writes about any film that is about to release, he said he is particularly excited about this film as it “energise me and inspire me the way the process of this film has”.

Our collaborative producer and debutant director have been on the journey of this film for 4 years…the director did nothing else but put his head down and work relentlessly on his film – combating pandemic delays and other unforeseen circumstances. I am inspired by the team of actors and technicians who gave the film and the team so much consistent support and love. One can never predict commercial success BUT what I can say with all my heart is that this film is one of Dharma’s proudest films!”

Speaking both as a film maker and an audience, Karan said, he “pray for the team that the audience is coloured in the colour of their passion”.

The colour of Karan’s post were in orange. Picking on this, netizens opined that the filmmaker was speaking about Kesari: Chapter 2Kesari was released in 2019. The film had Akshay Kumar as leading and star and was directed by Anurag Singh. The film was also produced by Karan.
