Kho Gaye Hum Kahan Review: This Netflix Drama Is About Broken Minds And Their Intimacy Issues

Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, directed by Arjun Varain Singh, revolves around three best friends (played by Adarsh Gourav, Ananya Panday, and Siddhant Chaturvedi) and their journey through failures and successes in the pursuit of happiness. The movie, currently streaming on Netflix and co-written by the director, Zoya Akhtar, and Reema Kagti, unfolds the narrative of three twenty-somethings residing in Mumbai. It delves into their ambitions, inhibitions, broken lives, and heartbreaks, exacerbating the already challenging circumstances of the protagonists.

The central theme of the movie is intimacy. Each character—Adarsh Gourav as a gym trainer, Ananya Panday as a corporate employee, and Siddhant Chaturvedi as a stand-up comic—experiences challenges to intimacy. Towards the end, through some survival hacks and dialogues from Siddhant Chaturvedi’s character, the movie attempts to establish that societal norms and the effects of past trauma will not hinder them in the pursuit of happiness.

Another significant element explored in the movie is the impact of social media on the younger generation. Adarsh Gourav”s character, Neil, is in a relationship with an influencer. As the story unfolds, he realizes the reasons behind his relationship and the role he plays in it. The movie delves into the life and philosophy of the influencer”s character, as well as Ahana Singh (played by Ananya Panday), who takes the help of social media posts to get her love back, this, in a way showcases how the current generation lives and shapes their lives through their interactions on social media.

The way Siddhant Chaturvedi’s Imaad Ali being portrayed in the initial scenes might give you an impression that the movie is going to travel through the trajectory of Seinfeld, American television sitcom created by Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld, but, it takes sudden turn into personal conflicts of the main characters.

Love, care, belonging, intimacy, relationships, friendship, societal pressure and many issues of the twenty somethings are being discussed in the move one way or other.

At times, the viewer will feel that the only matured character in the whole movie is Simran Kohli play by Kalki Koechlin, who comes as Imaad’s love interest.

Kho Gaye Hum Kahan is about the conflicts of young minds and how they sail through their issues. The movie is worth one-time watch if you have subscribed to Netflix.
