Director Jay R. Krishnan, or Jay K., comes with a man vs. beast comedy, GRRR, starring Kunchacko Boban, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Mojo, the lion, in lead roles. Yep, that’s right.
The film follows Kunchacko essaying the role of a drunken man, Rejimon Nadar, who jumps into the lion’s enclosure in a zoo, prompting a security personnel called Haridas (Suraj) to also jump in to rescue him. But then comes Darshan, the king of the jungle, who changes their lives forever.

Inspired by many real events in India where people trespassed into enclosures of these wild cats in zoos across India, the film explores a similar story and the complex facets of the psyche of such people, especially when under the influence, in a light-hearted manner.
Adding a layer of comedy to the otherwise serious and scary situation, the film promises to approach the bizarreness of the misadventure while also exploring “certain layers like interpersonal relationships, social stratification, and our political scenario,” said Jay K, as quoted by Cinema Express. However, the Ezra director also clarifies that the main intention of the film is to entertain and not deliver any social message.

A curious factor about the film is its third lead, the jungle king, coming all the way from Cape Town. Teaming up with Kunchacko and Suraj, Mojo the Lion has previously featured in Idris Elba’s Beast (2022) and Akshay Kumar’s Samrat Prithviraj (2022).
Apart from the three main leads, GRRR also features a talented cast, including Rajesh Madhavan, Shruti Ramachandran, Anagha, and Alencier Ley Lopez, among others.
