Legendary Actor Dharmendra Dies At 89

Veteran actor Dharmendra Kewal Krishan Deol, popularly known as Dharmendra, died on 24 November 2025 at the age of 89. A towering figure in Indian cinema, Dharmendra was celebrated not only for his box-office success but also for his rugged charm, earning him the beloved title “He-Man of Bollywood.”

His death marks the end of an era in Hindi film history.

In recent weeks, the 89-year-old actor had been receiving treatment for age-related health issues. He spent more than 10 days in Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital before he was moved back to his Juhu residence, where he spent his final moments.

His family and friends, along with industry stalwarts, have gathered at his home to pay their respects.

Over a career spanning 65 years, Dharmendra worked in over 300 films, delivering unforgettable performances in blockbusters such as Sholay, Phool Aur Patthar, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Seeta Aur Geeta, Dost, Hukumat, and Charas, among many others.

He also won critical acclaim for films like Bandini, Satyakam, Chupke Chupke, and The Burning Train. In his later years, he transitioned to character roles in films like Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, Life in a… Metro, Apne, Johnny Gaddaar, and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.

Dharmendra received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997 and also served as a Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) for Bikaner, Rajasthan, representing the BJP.

He is survived by his first wife Prakash Kaur, with whom he had four children: Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijeta Deol, and Ajita Deol; and his second wife, actress Hema Malini, and their two daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.
