A week later Netflix announces the release of the anticipated documentary with the Menendez brothers, titled Monsters: The Lyle And Erik Menendez Story, the makers have reacted to the new case updates which is set to be reviewed by the attorney George Gascón after decades.
As the streaming platform readying to release the double murder mystery on October 7, the latest turn of events questions the production of the documentary as the habeas corpus petition filed by the brother in 2023 comes under review.
On October 3, the Los Angeles Country District Attorney, George Gascon announced on that their was again under preview, paving the way for the brothers to be possibly retired, resentenced to a lesser term or even released. Gascón is also looking into new evidence suggesting that the brothers were allegedly molested by their father, and Murphy may consider extending the season.

As this turn of event might introduce new changes in the documentary that has been in the works for almost four years, Ross Dinerstein and Rebecca Evans of Campfire Studios said they are excited about the new developments. Being questioned about the explosion in the news, Dinerstien said that they have worked on this for almost four years and they are looking forward to viewers forming their own conclusion based on the documentary content.
Moreover, the makers also cleared that they are not there to litigate the case and were not to present evidence or new evidence in that way alongside the attorneys. The makers has also highlighted that their purpose is to share their research on the events as they unfolded historically, emphasising that recent developments didn’t change their perspective on the past.

The documentary and the Menendez brothers case have been a point of discussion for almost years. Lately, Kim Kardarshian star also spoke about the brothers’ situation pointing towards the sexual abuse claims, and asked the people in charge to think again about giving the brothers life sentences. She says the punishment was way too severe for what they did. “ You think you know the story of Lyle and Erik Menendez. I certainly thought I did.”
