The third season of the acclaimed crime thriller web series Mirzapur is has released. With amped-up violence, the tale of the fight over the throne started today. Through sneak peek of the political battle through the trailers, and hidden mysteries behind each poster, the makers of the web series have been teasing the audience and piquing the curiosity with its back to back promotions.

According to India Today, Avinash Singh Tomar and director Gurmmeet Singh have served the old wine in a new bottle, which is “flavourful and wholly satisfying”. The review said, Mirzapur 3 started from where season 2 ended. It said, the looming question of whether Kaleen Bhaiyaa let the ‘gaddi’ of Mirzapur slip through his fingers so easily keeps the audience hooked throughout the ten episodes of the thrilling narrative.

India Today said Mirzapur 3 delves deep into the gritty lives of gangsters, deftly weaving a narrative that not only showcases their dark world but also confronts the consequences of moral decay head-on.

As per NDTV, the distance that the surviving gangsters and their accomplices and rivals traverse in the Mirzapur 3 is considerable, but the tools and tropes it employs in the new tranche of ten episodes remain firmly within familiar parameters. It said, Mirzapur 3 has markedly less tensile strength than the first two seasons. It added that the fact that this season is much more of a slow burn than usual is not, however, necessarily a drawback. In fact, it opens up room for several startling and intriguing narrative sleights.

While saying that Mirzapur S3 has its share of shootouts, none is in the league of the wedding massacre of Season 1 or the bloodbath of Season 2 that saw one of the Tyagi twins (Vijay Varma) and his maternal uncle being mowed down. NDTV review concluded that the battle of Mirzapur is far from over. An extension may be in order.

According to Indian Express, while Mirzapur was a roaring fire and Mirzapur 2 is a lethal glow that flickered here and there and yet kept steady, Mirzapur 3 is banked embers which burst into flame only once in a while. The review said the season 3 feels like everything has settled into an all-too comfortable groove, and the only time it jolts us is when the next dose of brutality is administered in the middle of all that chai-and-nashta-and-chat.

The acclaimed series was first premiered in 2018 and quickly garnered a massive following. The second season, released in October 2020, maintained the series’ popularity with its intense plot and strong performances. Produced and created by Excel Media and Entertainment, the fan-favorite crime-thriller is directed by Gurmeet Singh and Anand Iyer.
