The 71st edition of the Miss World is set to commence at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai on Saturday, March 9. The prestigious event which was originally scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates is set to take place in India after a gap of 28 years.

Filmmaker and director Karan Johar will make a comeback to the Miss World stage as the host after his jury role in 2006. He will partner with Miss World 2013 Megan Young from the Philippines. To add to the excitement of the event, Miss World 2021 winner, Polish model Karolina Bielawska, will be present to crown the next Miss World.

India will be represented by Sini Shetty who won the Femina Miss India 2022. Shetty who holds a degree in accounting and finance displayed her talent in the cultural round of the competition.

Incidentally, India boasts of several Miss World winners and holds a glorious history. In the past, Bollywood icons like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and most recently Manushi Chhillar have won the prestigious award. The Miss World pageant was established in 1951 to empower women through community services and philanthropy.
