Malayalam cinema fans have a double reason to celebrate today as Mohanlal celebrates his birthday alongside the grand theatrical release of Drishyam 3 on May 21, 2026.
Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the highly anticipated crime thriller marks the third instalment in the blockbuster Drishyam franchise and brings back Mohanlal’s iconic character Georgekutty to the big screen once again. The makers strategically chose the superstar’s birthday for the worldwide release, turning the occasion into a massive celebration for fans across Kerala and overseas markets.
Produced by Antony Perumbavoor under Aashirvad Cinemas, Drishyam 3 arrives with huge expectations following the phenomenal success of Drishyam and Drishyam 2, both of which became landmark thrillers in Indian cinema.
Mohanlal reprises his role as Georgekutty, the intelligent cable TV operator-turned-theatre owner who will once again go to any extent to protect his family and hide the secrets of the past.

Filming for the movie began in September 2025 and was completed in December 2025 across multiple locations in Kerala, including Ernakulam, Vagamon, Thodupuzha and Thiruvalla.
The technical crew includes cinematographer Satheesh Kurup, editor V. S. Vinayak and music composer Anil Johnson.
Released in Malayalam along with Tamil, Telugu and Kannada versions, Drishyam 3 is expected to dominate the box office in the coming days.
