Jon Landau, the co-producer of masterpiece movies Titanic and Avatar, died at the age of 63. His family shared this but didn’t disclose the cause of his demise.  Zoe Saldana, the Avatar star mourned the loss of the producer on the X platform with an emotional note.

Tributes flooded everywhere for the Ocsar-winning producer best acknowledged for films like the classical Titanic and magnum opus Avatar. He collaborated with the classic filmmaker James Cameron for both these franchises.

Landua reportedly died on Friday and was diagnosed with cancer earlier in 2023, which was disclosed in a statement by Disney Entertainment co-chair, Alan Bergman, on Saturday, yet the cause of death hasn’t been revealed further.

He worked as an executive at the film production company 20th Century Fox, managing movie production and distribution including Die Hard 2 and Mrs Doubtfire and True Lies.

Following the news of his passing, Lord of the Rings director Sir Peter Jackson and screenwriter and film producer Fran Walsh paid tribute to Landau through their social media posts.


Avatar’s official social media accounts also paid tribute to his valuable contributions along with James Cameron. Landua’s collaboration with James Cameron led to 3 Oscar nominations and won the Best Picture award for ‘Titanic’ which later led to crafting the biggest movies like Avatar and its sequel “Avatar: The Way of Water.”
