Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ Hits ₹250 Crore, Sees Monday Dip
Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1 continues its strong box office run, crossing the ₹250 crore mark in just five days. The film, which opened to massive numbers last Thursday, saw a slight drop on Monday but remains one of the year’s biggest success stories in Indian cinema.
According to early estimates by Sacnilk, the film collected ₹30.50 crore on Day 5 (Monday), bringing its total domestic net collection to ₹255.75 crore. Despite a 50% dip compared to Sunday’s earnings, Kantara: Chapter 1 has maintained a commanding lead at the box office, outperforming most recent releases.

The film, released in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi, had a thunderous opening of ₹61.85 crore, with strong contributions from all languages. The Kannada version led the pack with ₹19.6 crore, followed by Hindi (₹18.5 crore) and Telugu (₹13 crore). Over the weekend, the film witnessed remarkable growth, crossing the ₹220 crore mark in just four days.
The movie clashed with Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, but Kantara: Chapter 1 dominated the box office despite being a regional-centric film. The Hindi version, in particular, has surprised trade analysts with its exceptional performance across northern markets.
Day-Wise Box Office Collection (India Net):
-
Day 1 (Thursday): ₹61.85 crore
-
Day 2 (Friday): ₹45.4 crore
-
Day 3 (Saturday): ₹55 crore
-
Day 4 (Sunday): ₹61.5 crore
-

Trade experts predict that the film could breach the ₹300 crore milestone by the end of its theatrical run if it maintains this pace.
While Kantara: Chapter 1 has not yet reached the nationwide phenomenon level of Baahubali, KGF, or Pushpa, its performance remains exceptionally strong in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra, with steady collections in other regions.

Directed and headlined by Rishab Shetty, the film is a prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara and continues the franchise’s legacy of blending folklore, spirituality, and raw human emotion.
Meanwhile, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, released on the same day, has managed only around ₹30 crore over its opening weekend, making Kantara: Chapter 1 the clear box office winner.
