Bollywood veteran Mukesh Khanna recently announced his return as the iconic superhero Shaktiman as he rocked his superhero costume again talking about his return to the beloved character.

This comes as a surprise since there’s been buzz about a Shaktimaan movie with Ranveer Singh rumoured to take over the role. However, Mukesh isn’t having it as he’s opposed to the idea and doesn’t think Ranveer is the right fit.

He told ANI, “Shaktimaan is within me… I connect with this character deeply. Acting is all about confidence, and I forget about the cameras when I’m in the zone.”

However, his fans aren’t exactly thrilled. The 62-year-old actor took to social media to share the news, only to face a barrage of trolls telling him it’s time to move on.

Mukesh Khanna first donned the Shaktiman cape in the 1990s, becoming a household name. The show was a massive hit and Khanna’s portrayal of the superhero remains etched in Indian culture. However, two decades later fans seem to have had enough.

Fans flooded X and Instagram with memes and jokes, poking fun at his announcement. Many felt that revisiting the past wouldn’t work while others suggested he should let younger actors take over, but there are positive comments as well from those who await to reminisce their past watching Shaktiman again.

An X user commented: “People have choice. Always liked how you inspired children and youth with good choices for them, more than yourselves. No one could come close to Bheeshma pitama role and what one could learn from him, and of course Shaktimaan and other movies you opted for. Wishing success.”
