Siddhant Chaturvedi’s Yudhra hit theatres today. Helmed by Ravi Udyawar, the film is a high-octane action thriller. It also stars Malavika Mohanan, and Raghav Juyal in key roles. Reviews suggest that the film is rich with actions, but bails out on emotions heavily.

According to Indian Express, Yudhra starts well, but succumbs to predictability. ‘Yudhra’ manages to make some resets but also succumbs to jadedness on multiple scores, so it becomes a case of coming upon a few energetic set-pieces which then sink into laxity and predictability which goes on for much too long, the outlet said. It said though Siddhant Chaturvedi has done well, when his Kho Gaye Hum Kaha is taken, it is visible that the actor could deliver more. Even Raghav Juyal, who served killer performance in Kill, also failed to keep up his graph. The review said the new blood needs cracking writing, even as they do well in cracking bones and splintering flesh.

India Today lists the ‘fail-proof’ makers Yudhra had, and how still the film failed to take off. It said despite having Sriram Raghavan penning the story and screenplay, Farhan Akhtar the dialogues, Javed Akhtar the lyrics, and Shankar Ehsaan Loy giving the music, the film fails to impact.  The review said, Udyawar struggled to bring engagement to a film that juggles too many elements. India Today said Yudhra lies somewhere between an earnest effort and a missed opportunity.

Times of India said the biggest asset of the film was its cutting-edge actions which serves as its backbone. It said while the style and stunts are on point, the story meanders. It said Siddhant and Malavika looked good together, but lacks chemistry required to establish a connection. The review said when the first half of the film builds momentum and creates an anticipation of solid twists, the second half douses its own fire before things could get all heated.

OTT Play called Yudhra a “disappointing affair”. The outlet said the biggest flaw of the film lies in the lead character’s confusing personality itself. While Yudhra (played by Siddhant Chaturvedi) is said to have anger issues, his anger outburst comes at his own convenience. It said the character also lacks emotional depth, but Siddhant did a decent job which can be seen in his action sequences. The review said the film fails to strike the right chord despite its impressive action sequences.
