Siddharth’s 3BHK Arrives In Theatres Today: A Tamil Coming-Of-Age Tale Rooted In Family And Memory

3BHK, the Tamil-language coming-of-age drama directed by Sri Ganesh, is released in theatres today. The film marks the first collaboration between Sri Ganesh and actor Siddharth, and is based on Aravindh Sachidanandam’s short story 3BHK Veedu. Produced by Arun Viswa under Shanti Talkies, the project also features a cast led by R. Sarathkumar, Devayani, Meetha Raghunath, and Yogi Babu.

Siddharth stars as Prabhu, a man caught in the currents of family dynamics and unresolved emotions, while veteran actors Sarathkumar and Devayani reunite on screen after two decades as his parents, Vasudevan and Shanthi. Meetha Raghunath plays his sister, Aarthy, and Kannada actress Chaithra J. Achar makes her Tamil debut as Aishwarya, Prabhu’s romantic interest.

The narrative draws from familiar emotional terrain, family, memory, and personal growth, but is grounded in a middle-class Chennai setting. Titled after a standard apartment classification, 3BHK uses the physical space of a home as both setting and symbol for intergenerational relationships and the tensions they hold.

Announced in May 2024 as Siddharth40, the film was later officially titled 3BHK with a teaser launch on February 5, 2025. The film is the sophomore production of Shanti Talkies after Maaveeran (2023), and Sri Ganesh’s third feature after 8 Thottakkal and Kuruthi Aattam. Principal photography began in Chennai on July 15, 2024, and wrapped in early March 2025.

Cinematography is shared by Dinesh Krishnan B and Jithin Stanislaus, while editing is handled by Ganesh Siva. The film’s visual tone mirrors the emotional rhythms of the story, quiet, contemplative, and occasionally tense.

The film marks composer Amrit Ramnath’s Tamil debut, following his work in Varshangalkku Shesham (2024). The soundtrack album, released on June 26, includes nine tracks, featuring a mix of established voices such as Shreya Ghoshal, Chinmayi Sripaada, Haricharan, and Pradeep Kumar.

The singles “Kanavellam” and “Idi Mazhai” were released in May and June, respectively, and have received positive responses for their melodic richness and lyrical intimacy.

Sri Ganesh, who also penned the lyrics for multiple songs, uses music as an extension of the characters’ inner lives, blending poetic minimalism with classical influences. The reprise versions of “Oru Kana” and “Veezhvena” add depth to the recurring emotional themes.
