After a critically acclaimed run in the UK, Radhika Apte’s international sensation, Sister Midnight, is all set to hit streaming platforms in India. Touted as Radhika’s “boldest role yet”, the film also stars Ashok Pathak, Chhaya Kadam, and Smita Tambe.
Directed by Karan Kandhari, Sister Midnight was nominated for Outstanding British Debut at this year’s BAFTA awards. The dark comedy was also nominated for the Quinzaine des Cineastes 2024 and the Directors’ Fortnight, an independent section held before the Cannes Film Festival.

According to an official announcement by distributor Altitude Films, Sister Midnight has begun streaming on a VOD (Video-on-Demand) basis on Apple TV, Prime Video, and Google Play in the UK.
The film will reportedly soon be available to stream on Prime Video for Indian users. Although the streaming platform is yet to make an official announcement about it.
Touted as “a fantastical punk comedy, a feminist revenge film, and a revamped vampire movie rolled into one”, the film is produced by Wellington Films, Radhika, Suitable Pictures, Alan McAlex, Film4 and the British Film Institute.

The film follows Uma (Radhika), a young bride stuck in an awkward arranged marriage, living in Mumbai. As her loneliness takes the forefront, so do her animalistic urges. What follows is an absurd, chaotic and hilarious descent into madness as she tries living with boredom and unfulfilled expectations.
Sister Midnight saw a limited theatrical release in India on May 30.
