Comedian Vir Das recently shared his unpleasant experience applying for visas with the Swedish Embassy. Taking to social media platform X, the Emmy Award winner said that due to a complication with the visa, he had to push his Dublin show to a later date.
Currently in Sweden for his Stockholm show scheduled for September 30, Vir said that he had applied for a double-entry Schengen visa, but the Swedish Embassy gave him a single-entry visa, which restricted him from leaving the Schengen zone for Ireland, where the comedian had another show lined up.

The comedian, set to be the first Indian to host the Emmy Awards, also added that the Schengen visa for his tour assistant was also rejected as the Swedish Embassy believed that he would not return to India.
“Applied for a double entry Schengen. The Swedish embassy in their infinite wisdom give me a single entry one and reject my tour assistant saying they don’t believe he’s going to return to India now I have to push a Dublin show because I can’t leave Schengen. What a week!” tweeted Vir.

In the comment section, another netizen shared a similar experience where he was given a single entry despite applying for the Schengen visa. “I do not understand this Visa game. Schengen area should have multiple years tourist Visa like US or Australia. Both the nations scrutinize application heavily but once they provide visa things are easy,” said the user.
Others empathised with the comedian and observed how frustrating visa mix-ups can be. Meanwhile, a netizen humorously told Vir to add how “crazy. Racist and bureaucratic the visa processes are” in his show.
