“They Are Monsters, Hunters”: Geetha Vijayan Says Director Thulasidas Misbehaved With Her And Sridevika

Yesteryear Malayalam film actress Geetha Vijayan revealed on Monday that both she and actress Sridevika had bad experiences with director Thulasidas. Geetha Vijayan mentioned that there were incidents, including inappropriate door knocking, and that she lost opportunities due to her reaction.

“I had a bad experience in 1991, on the sets of the movie *Chanchattam*. Thulasidas was the director. There was a knock on the door, and I reacted very strongly at that time. It means I responded correctly when I should have. Later, they wasted all my dates and made me sit in the room. So many things happened against me. However, I did not withdraw from the film because that’s my job. I acted in scenes that were either cut or rewritten. I did my job,” she said.

“A film should not have problems because of me. At that time, I didn’t tell anyone about this because we had no one to talk to. So, I handled the incident myself. I didn’t feel like calling the police that day, but I managed to solve the issue on my own. If the police needed to be called, I would have called them. The same Thulasidas misbehaved with an actress named Sridevika in 2006,” Geetha Vijayan added.

Geetha Vijayan also spoke about the revelations that have come to light following the Hema Committee report. “Let more people come forward with their stories. Those who faced difficulties should speak out. This is women’s empowerment. The women’s empowerment movement is starting now. I am thankful to the Pinarayi government and the findings of the Hema Committee. Without this platform, such exploitation would have continued. The revelations are shocking. We couldn’t file complaints earlier because our past complaints were rejected. That’s why so many atrocities happened. They are monsters; they are hunters. The Hema Committee is like a battleship for us. It has given us strength. This is women’s empowerment. No matter how much I thank the government, it won’t be enough,” Geetha Vijayan said.

However, director Thulasidas denied the allegations made by Geetha Vijayan. He told *Asianet News* that he never misbehaved as Geetha alleged.

“It was the beginning of my career, a time when people were focused on making films and surviving. I never even thought of such things. There were senior actors, including Urvashi, on that set, and none of them faced any problems. Moreover, after the shooting, everyone returned happily,” Thulasidas said, adding that he doesn’t know why this allegation has surfaced after all these years.
