The much-awaited trailer of the Tollywood movie Viduthalai Part 2 has been released and has now generated immense excitement among fans and cinema enthusiasts. Directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Vetrimaaran and music by veteran Ilaiyaraaja the film is a sequel to the critically acclaimed period crime thriller released last year.

The trailer showcases Vijay Sethupathi reprising his role as Perumaal Vaathiyaar leading the fight for liberation for his extremist group Makkal Padai (People’s Army).
The narrative picks up where the first part concluded which delves into pressing issues such as oppression, communalism and institutionalised violence.
The lead actor Vijay Sethupathi took to Instagram to announce the most anticipated trailer of Viduthalai Part2. He wrote, “The wait is over! Direction by #VetriMaaran, an intense period crime thriller. An #Ilaiyaraaja Musical. #ViduthalaiPart2FromDec2.”

Viduthalai Part 2 is an adaptation of B. Jeyamohan’s short story Thunaivan, co-written by Vetrimaaran. The film boasts an impressive cast, including Soori, Manju Warrier, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rajiv Menon and Bollywood filmmaker-turned-actor Anurag Kashyap.
The film’s technical crew includes Ilaiyaraaja as the music composer, R Velraj as the cinematographer and R Ramar as the editor.

The first instalment of Viduthalai was a commercial and critical success, grossing Rs 40 crore at the box office and receiving widespread critical acclaim. The sequel is expected to replicate, if not surpass, the success of its predecessor.

Viduthalai Part 2 is slated to release in cinemas on December 20, where it will compete with the Tamil versions of Kalees’ Bollywood action thriller Baby John and Barry Jenkins’ Hollywood animated adventure film Mufasa: The Lion King.
