Vidya Balan Files Complaint After Fake Social Media Account Extorts Money In Her Name (image-instagram/balanvidya)

Actress Vidya Balan filed a complaint with Mumbai police against an unknown person for creating fake social media accounts in her name to extort money from people. The unknown person has created fake email, Instagram, and WhatsApp accounts to reach out to people associated with the entertainment industry. 

The incident came into light when one of the actress’s close associates from the film industry contacted her citing that an unknown number claiming to be ‘Vidya Balan’ contacted her on WhatsApp offering job opportunities. The actress was informed of similar activities being done over e-mail as well as on Instagram by other industry contacts. 

Some of them have claimed that the imposter had demanded money from some recipients. 

Based on the actress”s complaint, the Mumbai police have registered an FIR against an unknown person under Section 66(C) of IT and an investigation has been started, reports NDTV. The actress has also shared the incident on her Instagram stories. 

As per the report of TOI, the accused has allegedly created a fake Gmail account (vidyabalanspeaks@gmail.com) and an Instagram account (vidya.balan.pvt) to deceive the individuals. Apparently, the culprit was reaching out to persons pretending to be Vidya and making fake promises regarding job offers between February 17 and 19. 

On the work front, the actress was last seen in the film Neeyat in 2023. And as of now she is all set to return to the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise. 

She will be also part of the upcoming romantic comedy movie Do Aur Do Pyaar starring Pratik Gandhi, Ileana D”Cruz, and Sendhil Ramamurthy.
