The action-packed thriller trailer of the new season of ‘House of the Dragons’, a prequel to the famous American Television Drama ‘Game of Thrones’, was released on May 14. The HBO released the trailer just after Amazon revealed its first trailer of the second season of the fantasy drama, “The Lord of the Rings: The Ring of Power”. Both the streaming services are ready for an intense fight for the throne of the medieval fantasy.

The second season of the House of the Dragon will start streaming on Max from June 16 onwards. The series is based on ‘Fire and Blood’, the prequel novel written by George R.R Martin. The theme is set a hundred years before ‘Game of Thrones’, narrating the tale of Westeros, ruled by the Targaryen family.

In the two-and-a-half-minute trailer, the scenes reveal hints of an approaching war. The action-packed trailer shows Rhaenyra and Alicent preparing for a civil war. When the legitimate king dies, he stipulates that his daughter Rhaenyra to inherit the throne. But war breaks out when all other members of the family want the throne as well.

The new season will continue the story of the Targaryen dynasty. The new cast members who will join the crew this season include, Abubakar Salim, Gayle Rankin, Freddie Fox and Simon Russell Beale.

The first season of the House of Dragons was released in August 2022. Since it became a massive hit, the makers decided to go for yet another one.

The first trailer of the season was released on December 2, 2023. However, the series will be shorter than the first season with just eight episodes.
