The Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival which is scheduled to begin on October 27 has announced that this year they will feature Hansal Mehta’s ‘The Buckingham Murders’ on its opening night.

As one day remains for the event to commence, Director Anurag Kashyap has recently shared a story on Instagram praising Kareena Kapoor’s performance in the film. He wrote on his story, “Kareena Kapoor”s best performance ever in this moody film about loss and grief, and murder, by Hansal Mehta.” This story was reshared by both Hansal Mehta and Kareena Kapoor.

The movie yet to be released will also be screened at London Film Festival.

Director Hansal Mehta expressed his happiness in screening the movie in the opening night as Jio MAMI Mumbai Festival has been home to him ever since his rebirth as a filmmaker with Shahid, says Deadline.

Kareena Kapoor too expressed her immense pleasure and said it was an honour for her film to open the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival. She said, “The Buckingham Murders is very special for me since it”s my maiden voyage as a co-producer. Working with Hansal and Ektaa is a deeply satisfying and immersive process. We are only hoping our film will reach wider audiences and break barriers globally”.

‘The Buckingham Murder’ revolves around a detective tasked with investigating the murder of a 10-year-old. Earlier, Kareena revealed that her character is inspired by Kate Winslet’s character in Mare of East town.

Apart from Kareena Kapoor, the movie also stars Ash Tado, Ranveer Brar, and Keith Allen. Directed by Hansal Mehta and written by Aseem Arora, Kashyap Kapoor, and Raghav Raj Kakker, ‘The Buckingham Murders’ is produced by Balaji Telefilms and TBM Film alongside Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, and Kareena Kapoor. After Lal Singh Chadha, this will be Kareena’s return to the big screen.
