Why Social Media Can’t Take Its Eyes Off Zendaya

Edited by Aishwarya Krishnan

The ultimate fashion icon, Zendaya, has social media by its throats (once again). The actor is dominating social media with photos from her Met Gala looks, impressing everyone.

This year’s Met Gala theme is ‘The Garden of Time,’ inspired by J.G. Ballard’s short story of the same name. Imagine florals, leaves, tree branches, birds, petals, and everything spring. And while many missed the memo (looking at you, Cardi B), others simply nailed the theme with stunning looks. For instance, Internet’s mother, Lana Del Ray, with a delicate headpiece made of natural hawthorn branches and a corseted silk dress with tree branches growing over the double georgette and tulle served one of the best looks of the night.

However, there was one person who stole the show with her mouth-gaping look. Dressed in a royal blue and emerald green dress inspired by John Galliano’s 1999 Dior piece, Zendaya looked ravishing with 1920s brows, overlined eye makeup, and overlined dark lips to contrast her intricately designed dress. And of course, a special mention goes to the little hummingbird around her neck.

But before the internet could get enough of the look, Zendaya returned to serve another look for all to devour. Wearing a black gown paired with a bouquet of pink, white, yellow, and red flowers as the headwrap, Zendaya rocked a 1996 piece from Galliano’s Givenchy era. The incredible black gown included a corseted lace-up bodice, puffy off-shoulder sleeves, frills, laces, and an exaggerated trail.

Fan or not, you cannot help but stare at the diva in sheer awe and admiration.
