Yash’s ‘Toxic’ Halted Due To Creative Differences With Director Geetu Mohandas: Reports

Yash’s much-awaited film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, directed by Geetu Mohandas, has reportedly run into trouble, with sources suggesting that the project’s shoot has been halted indefinitely.

According to multiple reports, the production has been paused following creative differences between lead actor-producer Yash and director Geetu Mohandas.

Originally scheduled for a March 19, 2026 release, the ambitious period gangster drama is said to have faced several production hurdles. Reports indicate that Yash was reportedly unhappy with portions already filmed, prompting discussions about reworking the script and tone of the movie to include more mass-appeal and commercial elements — a hallmark of his on-screen persona.

Sources close to the production reveal that Geetu Mohandas’s artistic storytelling style may not have fully aligned with Yash’s vision for the film, leading to delays and internal re-evaluation.

While there has been no official statement from Yash, Geetu, or the production houses — KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations — speculation is growing that Toxic may be pushed indefinitely, or even risk being shelved if creative resolutions aren’t reached soon.

The reported postponement has also impacted the March 2026 release calendar, with Adivi Sesh’s Dacoit now locking that date. Telugu biggies Peddi and The Paradise are also eyeing the same window, potentially gaining wider theatrical screens in Karnataka due to Toxic’s uncertainty.

Toxic was announced in December 2023 as Yash’s 19th film and features an ensemble cast including Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, and Tovino Thomas.

The film, shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, was being mounted on a massive scale, with over 1,000 crew members and 450 actors working on detailed sets recreating eras from the 1940s to the 1970s.
